銘文:母嬣日辛。
說明:角是飲酒器,《禮記·禮器》:“宗廟之祭,尊者聚觶,卑者舉角。”鄭玄注:“四升為角。”與其他酒器組合,據(jù)《儀禮·特牲餽食禮》:“實(shí)二爵四觶一角一散。”《考工記·梓人》引《韓詩(shī)》云:“一升曰爵,二升曰觚,三升曰觶,四升曰角,五升曰散。”依此說,角與爵之容量為四比一。自宋以來,定爵形器無流而具兩翼若尾者為角,其容量與爵大致相等,故不是《禮記·禮器》注和《韓詩(shī)》所云之角,或者是爵之某種變體。
夏代晚期有前后成尾形的陶管流角,盤龍城遺址也出土有前尾不發(fā)達(dá)的管流角。最早的青銅角為上海博物館所藏的夏代晚期的異形管流角,長(zhǎng)體分段,杯體下有圓圈,底下承三足,上口前后皆呈翼狀,前翼與一般的爵不同,頸部有一斜置的流,與陶器相同。商晚期角發(fā)展成熟,延續(xù)到西周早期。
此青銅角為美國(guó)紐約蘭捷里(J.J.Lally)舊藏,上有標(biāo)簽“LALLY & CO NEW YORK X2611”。角流、尾一致,俱呈尖尾翼。口沿左右對(duì)稱,類緩坡的“V”字形。頸部收攏,腹部作圓卵貌,一側(cè)有半環(huán)鋬,底承三條外撇的錐形足。頸部飾蕉葉紋,流尾下的兩個(gè)較長(zhǎng),其馀較短,內(nèi)部對(duì)稱浮雕兩個(gè)獸體變形紋。腹部一面出扉棱,分別以扉棱和鋬?yōu)楸腔〉瘾F面紋。獸面僅凸顯眉、目、口、耳,不繪面龐輪廓及獸體其馀部位,滿工云雷地紋。其主紋、地紋涇渭分明,與頸、腹風(fēng)格統(tǒng)一。流內(nèi)一面有銘文“母嬣日辛”四字,為簡(jiǎn)式祭辭,是較少的銘文鑄于器內(nèi)壁而非鋬下之例。依器型、銘文斷,此件屬典型的商晚期器。日本出光美術(shù)館藏有一件同尺寸、同紋飾、同銘文器,當(dāng)與本件為一對(duì),可作參照。
角的存世數(shù)量遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)少于爵,多藏于世界各大知名博物館中,珍罕程度和收藏價(jià)值不言而喻。
